2003 AASHTO Value Engineering Project Award

The original design consisted of two separate bridges, one over the railroad and one over Polk Street. Leware spearheaded the alternative design of a single bridge,  eliminating the need for MSE wall retained embankment between the bridges. The award winning VECP provided monetary savings to the Owner and expedited completion of the project. The new 436’ 6” long, 98’ wide structure was constructed in two phases. Final configuration accommodated four lanes of traffic with a median separator and sidewalks along both sides.
